I just finished a project where we used shadow puppets to illustrate the testimony of two women, Margaret Lauder and Janet Baker, after their arrest for witchcraft in Scotland, 1643. The scenes above were photographed after the completion of the project in order to show my son how they worked, so they do not represent the testimony. When the project is complete, I will share it (if it isn’t too terrible, and the other group members don’t mind).
The puppets are made from repurposed cardboard and metal brads, the light is a shop light and a handful of led’s, the screen is mullberry-rice paper stuck to an old picture frame, and the box is where I used to keep my oil paints. I used x-actos on a self healing cutting mat to carve out all the puppets. It fits on a table top and everything fits in the case (except the flashlight). I took it all to school on my bike.
Unfortunately, it is better for still photos than actual live puppeteering. Too much going on backstage.
